 Chroma, ET Power

Fixed Voltage AC Frequency Changers

They take 110, 220, 230, 240 VAC inputs ( 50, 60 or 400 HZ )and reproduce it is at a set VAC ( 110, 220, 230, 240 ) and a different HZ ( 50, 60 or 400 HZ ) but still a sinewave.

There are Single phase units in and out SISO, Three phase in and single out TISO, also Three phase in and out TITO.

Some examples:-

MasTec can also supply

Variable Voltage AC Frequency Changers ( variable VAC ) is a similar product Converters ( set VAC )

They take AC inputs and reproduce it is at a variable VAC and frequencies of 50, 60 and 400HZ but still a sinewave.

An example:-

AC Power Synthesizers

They take AC input and reproduce it is a different format like an AC Source but this time the format maybe any shape waveform. e.g squarewave, mixed sine harmonics, spike etc for testing devices under certain conditions.

Basically you design the waveform shape mathematically or synthesized or download shapes captured from real systems.

Most
AC Power Synthesizers are GPIB or Serial Controlled by a PC or plug into PCI, cPCI or PXI computers.

Typical applications is testing device for succeptabiliy to AC harmonics or in ATE systems for testing tolerances on measurememt and control systems.

These Synthesizers can be mains level like the Pacific Power devices or at test instrumentation levels like the Chroma and the Adlink devices
