LabVIEW training:- MasTec has trained 15 more LabVIEW programmers since the last newsletter. For 2004 we have arranged training for 14 peope already and we have several overseas companies asking for quotes to train in their countires. Please ad dyour name to the list, send me an email.
Over the last year we have been training our new LabVIEW trainer, Hitul Shah. To achieve this, Hitul has developed several large LabVIEW applications from design to commissioning. He has worked with DAQ, Serial RS-232 and 485, Ethernet, GSM M2M, SQL Database, Internet, Transducers and many more sub systems, all inside the LabVIEW and now starting in the VC++ environments. We also have him working with Rabbit micros in Dynamic multitasking C.
On Site Programming Temps:- MasTec is now providing our engineers as LabVIEW, C++, VB, OPTO 22 Programming Engineering Temps. Over the year we experimented with this service and 2004 will expand it. Many companies in NZ are expanding and finding it very difficult to attract permanent qualified technical programmaing staff, we can fill this gap for you. We will undertaken any programming work inside our field of expertise. So feel free to use us to solve those difficult projects or tight time lines.
Direct Training and Consulting:- In 2003 MasTec put our engineers into sites to act in the role as "direct hands on, inside the project training". This is not acting as a programing Temp.
MasTec's staff will do hands on roll up your sleeves and get dirty work with your teams and train them to program correctly. They will assist your staff in correct design, implementation and trouble shooting also logical thorough commissioning of projects to completion.
Your staff will be responsible for the programming work, our staff will make sure the work is design correctly and make sure your staff understands the methodology for large project design and implementation.
So if you have staff that don't fell comfortable or confident and don't want ot get stressed out, let us ease them into becoming full LabVIEW programmers, by enrolling Mastec to do some very close and direct training and consulting.
Alpha:- This is late news, MasTec is now selling Alpha Inc's products, (www:alpha.com) one the USA's largest power companies, they make Generators, Rectifiers sets, DC and AC power supplies and a huge range of little to big UPSs. More on that in 2004.

New book "Measurement Systems Application and Design" ( Fifth Edition ) by Ernest Doebelin
It describes building a complete measurement chain from the sensors using software called DASYLab. MasTec is the distributor in NZ for this software. it is graphical, similar to LabVIEW, made in Germany.

Dr John Sutcliffe's book
Acid and Alkali Food Balancing
Don't know if you picked this up in last months health tip, but some early editions had the word homogenised rather than pasturised in it. This was referring to most fruits and drinks in bottles and cans, they are pasturised (not homogenised) and have no enzymes.
Also I realised after reading Nov's article again that I may have left some of you thinking by eating food with enzymes in them, you were topping up your enzyme supplies in your body. However, enzymes are proteins and are mainly digested along with food. What taking enzyme rich food real achieves, is to cause self digestion of food and gives the enzyme building systems in the body a rest, especially the pancreas and immunity systems and these two systems need to be strong for great health.
The Book review, I don't think I have ever down one officially.
Dr John Sutcliffe Physicist at the University College of Learning has just had a book published called "Man at the cross roads" which is a very good read if you need a bridge between your science mind and to be able to build a spiritual mind.
Acid Alkali in Food
We pick up our knife and fork, or chop sticks sometimes just use our fingers and push this stuff called food into our months and chew, have delightful emotional responses and swallow. After that the thought of what happens is often gone unless we get indigestion.
On arriving at the cell level, these foods get combusted and make energy to keep us warm, get turned into a rich array of chemicals and there is also ash or waste. It turns out that this end result of combustion for different foods actually is alkalising, neutral or acid.
The body runs in a slightly alkaline environment, blood pH is about 7.4.
Hard exercising makes the body acidic due to lactic acid build, however eating acid producing food can also do the same thing. Fortunately the body has a huge buffering ability and can absorb large acid inputs before trouble develops. Prolonged eating of food which is acid forming does have health effects. Joint, gout, break down of systems, poor combustion at the cell level etc,
The same is true for alkalising food, going alkaline too far causes irratibility or a form of anxiousness as the nervous system is affected by the alkalinity, hence the paper bag technique when someone is hyperventilating and going unconscious by blowing off to much CO2 which makes they alkaline.
So you have an idea on these things.
Acid foods:- All meats, the worst ones are preserved or smoked meats, potatoes, some nuts, breads, pasta, starchs, all grains except millet ( this is budgie food, it is great food makes you chirpie)
Neutral foods:- Most dairy foods, avacado
Alkaline Foods:- As you would expect acid fruit ( what! how come, well it is what happend after combustion not when it goes in the mouth ) in fact all fruit are alakilising and so are 95% of veges. The most alaklising thing I can find in the literature is Figs, so if you feel acid, eat some figs each week, in the morning, it will make a difference and balance maybe your acidy meals. Adding garlic shifts everything down a notch to more alkaline, most herbs do also. Funny that, does that make you smile with a deep sort of knowing.
If you want a chart on acid/alkaline foods there are some excellent ones around, you can put on your fridge door or where you cook. MOst Health Food shops will get one for you. If you can't find one let me know.
I also have an excellent food combining chart as a file that is ready to print as an A3 or an A4. I can send you this also.
I wish all of you a wonderful summer and great times with your loved ones over the holiday season.
