2004 was a good year for MasTec Ltd.
Sales figueres for the year are indicated a 25-30% increase in turn over.
During the year MasTec increased its sales engineers from 3 to 5, reflecting the growth.
Wireless products continue to dominate the sales but there has been a real resurgence in DAQ products, especially the new USB style products. Other growth areas are PCI and PCMCIA comms , Comms converters ( RS-485 and USB), GPIB interfaces and cables, Bench instruments (Scopes), microprocessors, industrial computing and encoders, transducers. Power product sales for the year are up 200% on 2003. This trend will continue for Power products as AC~DC Power and MasTec work to re-establish themselves strongly in this market.
Integration projects continue to grow in imporatnace as less companies employee technical staff for development work. MasTec commissioned a very large laboratory and company wide intranet based measurement and reporting system for one of NZ's arge multinational manufacturers. This project continues and the scope is growing each iteration.
Exports continue to grow, with more going to Australia but also the Middle East. 2005 will see a large increase in export as SWS's M2M products come on stream.
Programming temps was a large growth feature of MasTec during 2004. Starting the year with zero programmers working on site doing code development, by the end of this year we have had 1.5 years of programmer years contract work.
Training is still a key part of MasTec. In 2004 MasTec introduced lower cost LabVIEW training courses to offset the huge increase in the NI courses.
