USB + DAQ + GPIB + More

You may have noticed that USB DAQ is low cost and most manufacturers are competing in this area strongly. There are two distinct types emerging, the slower USB 1 and the faster, more complex USB 2 DAQ units.

MasTec stocks both the Measurement Computing PMD-1208 $289 and LabJack U12 $299 low cost 12 Bit DAQ boxes. Have a read on the the specs (hyperlink below), you will be amazed at what you get for your dollars. I have run these in LabVIEW and they are so easy to use, there is a good selection of demo VIs and and you can play in seconds. You can collect data at sustained rates of 1.2KHZ or bursts at 8KHZ, and when you consider that most DAQ is less than 50HZ, these units can do a wide range of DAQ duties.

The range of USB DAQ is expanding at a staggering rate, just have a look at Eagle and Superlogics.

Also some very sophisicated units, like the Measurement Computing PMD-1608FS with eight simultaneous 50KHZ 16 bit ADCs with a sustained throughput of 100Ksample/sec on USB 2, amazing really. LabJack are about to release a very power USB /Ethernet box with 14 channels with a variable resolution ADC, 12 bits at 100KHZ, moving to greater than 16 bits as you slow down. Plus a whole range of subsets of this product.

The advantages of USB for DAQ, like just plug in hot and run, self powered, also swings across to USB GPIB. Both ICS and Measurement Computing make USB 1 GPIB boxes that are fully NI 488 compatible and C++, LabVIEW etc also.

The other major advantage of USB is that you can just walk from machine to machine with the USB box and install and this advantage means that Laptops and Desktops share the same type of DAQ, same software, same everything. Much easier to support.

Last point, MasTec also has USB 1 and 2 Cameras, USB motion systems and more on the way every month. Keep asking.

Health Tips for June:

If you are new to this discussion, we are discussing the link/connection between mental states and physical health. Past issues are on the website under newsletters.

"Our bodies are a direct reflection of our mind state"

Some more thoughts on last months May's Health Tip:

In June we will look at forgiveness:- the key ingredient to opening up to full potential, this is to do with disentanglement. You may be surprised who to forgive.

Well, I'm guessing most of who read last months thoughts, have figured who to forgive to disentangle yourself.

If there is nothing outside us and all the perceptions that reside inside our minds are actually deciding our mental states then everyone else is innocent.

So next time we get upset with someone because we believe we have become a victim to them in some way and we react by saying something rude, impolite or even full of rage, we need to do two things, ask for forgiveness from that person forever doing such a thing, but most of all forgive our self wholy for holding the perception we can become a victim or be hurt by another, they are innocent always, we decide always.

In fact, it is an opportunity to forgive our self and find out why we ever took on such a perception of our self, find it, look at it, see where it came from, realise this is not us at all, it is just a perception, transcend it by dancing with the fearful idea of ever being like this, laugh at it or cry, what ever seems best and move on.( actually say it to our self, say it out out loud )

We have just disentangled our self from making another person wrong (they will feel this freedom) and also more importantly disentangling our self for holding false information about ourself. This sets us free, then full potential can start rising up, as we let it all go. Greatness only comes this way.

How are you doing with this?

I received some great emails last month, from some who were upset ( a great opportunity to find out where the fear comes from, as this information is only thought, it is not a dog that can bite ) and from others just loving the thought of getting back to a life in an easier form and releasing others at the same time. The Love State is best always, absolutely always. Consider the state of this present world.!?

This is good progress. Letting go, forgiving and returning to the love state is always best and great for mind & body health, whereas guilt, fear, judging & controlling is always a path of pain, for mind and body.
