In November MasTec sent two staff members to Thailand to the Digi Asia Conference. Total attendance was about 90 people from all over Asia and some staff from Digi Headquarters USA.
Digi if you don't know, was the company that made a lot of the original web expansion world wide possible, with Digiboard serial cards for driving modems, they are still the number one serial card maker.
Starting in 2001, Digi started to move to Wireless and in 2007 has a considerable product range.
Their solutions are not only IT based but industrial and real world based, making them quite unique in the wireless manufacturers world.
They have standard WiFi, GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth Wireless but also unique Zigbee 2007 mesh systems for industry, and 2.4GHZ and 900MHZ long distance point to point, point to multipoint direct RF and mesh solutions.

Digi has now merged MaxStream into the corporation and all branding is moved to the XBee brand inside the Digi product line.
MasTec as a major wirless player in NZ, is very please to add this line of products to their vendors. Digi s almost a one stop for Wireless, we certainly will assist you with Digi products where ever we can.
Digi also owns Rabbit Semiconductor and via that link have introduced what we believe is the most powerful radio / micro embedded combination in the industry.

MasTec also sent two staff members overseas in November to a World Education Convention to seek out new products and connections.
We will report on this in the Jan Issue.
We had a great time meeting a completely new type of manufacturers that are devoted to making products for education.
We are planning on expanding our educational product line significantly for 2008 in this area.
