Useful Wireless Appliances

Hello to all our Readers,

Are you looking to alarm, control or monitor systems remotely by Wireless??, many are now.

M2M started with a hiss and roar 4-5 years ago and then ran into application difficulties very quickly.

The main problem was to get a system that could go beyond SMS text messaging. Nearly all the first M2M systems were SMS based with ability to alarm, monitor and control via cellphone, PDA or PC. GPRS back then was flakey in NZ.

It quickly became obvious to all players, that this was not a system that could be used for wide generalised commercial services. It needed to be web based and as simple to use as any PC web application. Nokia promised these tools but quickly reversed out of this and dropped M2M, seeing major technology issues ahead. They will be back at some point.

There were no software tools to do this and less hardware that could do the complex comms job, it takes several layers of software to get in and out of a remote wireless site's I/O and to control or watch via a web based system with a simple web GUI or control panel.

Happily the technology is available. Intellicom our star Company for the Month, see Best Company for the month.

MasTec is also well able to do this work now, having developed several embedded appliances to web level.

New Direction and Focus at MasTec:-

Over the last few months we have been moving MasTec's focus to be singular. -- "A Sales Company"

This required the removal from the company of its integration and software development section which is now complete.

MasTec has moved all this activity to its sister development company SWS or Smart Works Systems. A new website is planned for this purpose.

SWS has been running since 1992 and is devoted to product development and software work and also takes over all software training.

All products developed in house for MasTec are in the process of being moved to SWS.

SWS will continue to manufacture these system and add it to its list of products, roof, facade, wall and window testing systems.

Expect a discussion next month on this development.

More restructuring is also underway in the power section and will be discussed shortly.

MasTec is now entirely a Sales Focused Company, see the contact list below showing the flat sales structure..

This removes the burden of trying to be all things from the sales staff and allows them to focus on our customers needs.
