This is the promised catchup eNewsletter for Feb 2008.
With over 250 vendors you can imagine how many announcements we could make.
Here is a few, well actually quite a few.
MasTec has already received many forward OEM orders for 2008. In fact this is the best OEM position we have been in since we were founded in 1989.
This brings up some thoughts for 2008.
We are noticing that the maturing OEM businesses in NZ are showing good growth, as they settle original old overseas markets and move into new ones.
Some of these companies started purchasing OEM parts products back in 2000 and are now starting to show long term growth.
So if you are starting to export a product, be prepared for the long haul to reach maturity and strong growth, it seems there is much to do, learn and move through to get to securing your place in the world.
From talking to many of these companies, it seems communication and documentation skills, besides good product are key points, so start early and learn the art of talking well, state the dream over and over again with key accounts, honing the words and documents to make it all come true.
We are wishing all our clients a wonderful experience for 2008. We will work along with you all as you make your dreams come true. We have our dream also and that is to be Oceania's largest OEM/ODM Technical Supplier. It is true.
If you need supply of product for your dream, let us know early this year, so we can start communication and develop the right words for successful business together.
We are planning an extra edition for February also, that will catch us up on the latest technology from so many of our manufacturers.
We have hdozens of press releases and will publish a selected edition of these in late February.
Focus will be on Digi "Drop in Networks" of course as this is the year of "Drop in Networks Worldwide".
However significant new technology is coming from all our areas, instruments, gauges, encoders, infrastructure, vision, micros, ICP, instrumentation, automation and power to make a big edition needed.
However, with promises of Wimax and LTE on the horizon for 2010, wireless is the main carrier from here forward it seems.

Yes, we have decided to sell Smart Works Systems after all these years.
We started SWS back in 1991 to develop microprocessor based DAQ systems and then used that to make a variety of battery testing equipment.
The reason for the sale-- it is part of our onward going redesign of MasTec Ltd to becoming a sales company and trade house only, with no development teams or programmers.
SWS presently works inside the MasTec framework. That is sales are booked through MasTec and then passed to SWS. MasTec staff help build the products also.
Last year year you will have noticed that we removed the Integration Division out of MasTec and now have several external engineers doing this work for us, with no in house development staff. It has been very succesful.
However with SWS we are going to sell the whole thing and remove all responsibilities from the MasTec staff.
SWS is primarily making Geotechnical Test Equipment and Windows Testing systems but also fabricates special items.
We have two external engineers who do most of the work in the Geotechnical products but the Windows Testing Systems are all made by SWS in house.
Who it would fit best.
Skills Required:
The skills include fabrication in metal and plastic, electronics, electrical assembly also programming skills in LabVIEW would be best and some Basic and C language also.
