Activity for Winter
I wish everyone well at this time.
On the home front I have just finished building a horse barn for the 3 horses we have. They are happy now they can get out of the weather especially at night. Our old mare we are hoping is pregnant, she was left with a stallion for a few weeks and we should see signs in a few months if it was successful.
On the business front, we have had a good May and June, with June looking like back towards normal numbers again.
In addition we have been receiving a lot of new product announcements from our suppliers, so they are busy updating and renewing also. You will see this in this newsletter.
Maestro Wireless Products.
We have been selling Maestro Wireless products now for 5 years. The main product being the older Maestro 20 SMS/GPRS and the modern Model 100 GPRS modem with a TCP/IP stack, which has been popular.
They have just released a host of new product that many will be interested in. It allows the same SMS/GPRS function while allowing hardware plugin expansion for M2M with a GPS, Digital I/O, Analog In and of most interest is the ethernet extension to turn the product into a Router. Also a lower cost power adaptor reduces costs.

A New Service
As we mentioned last month, we are finding many small start up companies are having difficulty exposing their products or services to the market.
Next Service - this is not a start up company but an essential business for startup companies with new products.
Our hird exposure for this month is from Spectrum Labs, a New Zealand company that offers testing services:-
Introducing Spectrum Laboratories Ltd Outline of services and options that Spectrum Laboratories, an electrical safety testing laboratory provides for its customers.
What is the value of a life? What is the damage to your brand as the result of a product recall? How much time, money and stress will it cost you?
Product testing is the most important thing that you can do to protect your brand from public fault and loss of life or property, saving you time and money in the process. If such a service is so important, who can you trust to test it right?
Spectrum Laboratories are IANZ accredited and renowned for meticulous service and technical expertise in the area of independent inspection and testing of electrical appliances, light industrial equipment and solid fuel burning appliances for manufacturers and importers throughout Australasia and the rest of the world.
In a controlled laboratory environment, Spectrums highly experienced technicians will search for all possible dangerous conditions, things like:
- inadequate earthing,
- incorrect thermoplastic materials,
- insufficient mains isolation,
- inadequate guarding from moving parts
and will then report back with an endorsed report. And with both IANZ and TUV accreditation there is security and assurance in both the validity and suitability of these results.
Spectrum Laboratories offer a wide range of individual services and testing options including:
- arranging partial or full test reports for global manufacturers,
- importers or for regulatory authority approvals,
- a MEPS testing service for testing of external power supplies to the relevant AS/NZS Minimum Energy Performance Standards
- and Water Efficiency Testing (WELS) for Shower heads in accordance with AS/NZS 3662:2005
Spectrum can offer the service of technical compliance management. It includes the management of approval applications and the maintaining of Technical Construction Folders (Hard and soft copies) ensuring that all testing is up to date as required under the Australian and New Zealand approval schemes.
Spectrum Laboratories Ltd has recently employed more Compliance Engineers with up to 25 years of individual experience to service its expanded workload and to provide timely test reports for our customers. In 2004, the Laboratory was moved into new larger purpose built premises in the East Tamaki industrial estate that were more suited to the expansion of the Laboratory.
There is no second chance or substitute for safety. For peace of mind let Spectrum Laboratories take care of your product testing needs before its too late.
