It never stands still, improvements are always being made. For large UPSs, the big push is for efficiency, power factor correction, small size & light weight, and low harmonics in and out, plus high uptimes and scaleability with redundancy..
Based on that, the high light for the month for the power sales team at MasTec is the installation that is happening in NZ at present of a midsize Gamatronic Three Phase Hotswap, Scaleable UPS with high efficiency and excellent new levels of performance specs. AC to AC conversion efficiency in this UPS is 95%.
If you are involved in large IT systems or a data centre or a government installation or an education facility, maybe even in the new clouds systems with blades everywhere, these will be worth a read. info

A Contractor
MasTec also needs a UPS contractor to service our UPSs in house and on site occassionally.
MasTec has 20K+ UPSs running in NZ.
Most of the service work will be battery replacements and the occassional board replacement, fuses, breakers etc, so it easy work and anyone with electrical/electronic training can manage this.
We would however prefer someone with experience with UPSs so the learn curve is short or if you are new to UPS and power protection, you must be sharp, logical, a trouble shooter and also easy going and enjoy your work.
Basically the contract would work like this. We receive a UPS in house to repair and our staff emails/Txts the contractor to come over and do the job. Most of our in house jobs require a 1-2 days turn around at present and we would like to keep that runing so our customers don't have to be without protection for too long.
Site visits to repair are usually for big UPSs and it is more convenient to go there and do this. This is a very rare as most sites have an electrian that does this work.

Elan - Mobidaptor - You may need this. USB-SD Adapter for mobiles/cellphones, smartphones and any device with an SD slot. The Mobidapter allows you to connect a USB memory stick to your phone to view and transfer files (it connects through your phone's external Micro SD slot). It's useful for exhibitions and conferences when you want to view information from USB memory on the spot or to view/exchange photos or mp3's with friends when stored on USB memory.
