HTML Catalog Website Changes
The www.mastec.co.nz website is now about 13 years old and is basically a catalog or brochure type site. We still use the old Adobe Pagemill to keep this alive.
Over the years it has grown and grown and we have just done some rationalising. The side panel with manufacturers has been simplified with our main suppliers first and then speciality suppliers next, with medical last. The reason of course is that we have dozens of suppliers that make very special products but they are not our main line sales products. So this should hel searches for manufacturers.
Outsource IT
You will also see that SWS -- Smart Works Systems has been removed and Outsource IT our new alliance comapny is now high lighted.
The way we invision this alliance working, is customers phone in to discuss the hardware for the project and if they need integration we introduce them to Outsource IT and we work together on the project.
New Web Sites
We had hoped to put up two transacting websites by now but our ISP is having difficulty putting them up as they are in the middle of a VMware upgrade. So soon is the best we can say.
Electronics ExportI don't know if you saw this, but Electronic exports are now bigger than Beef exports. I believe the last years figures were >$5BNZD.
We have realigned our company to help these exporting companies over the last few years, to focus on Supply, OEM and Logisitics. Greater than 55% of our income now comes via OEM supply. Our aim this year is to get this to 60+%.
We welcome enquiries on any product requirements not just in NZ but external also. We have been selling power products into China and Australia.
We are still looking for an Australian company to work with. We have been given distribution of a large vendors product range for Australia including state of the art wireless. Please do contact us if you want details on this.

Asian Electron - Switched Mode Power Supplies
We have been marketing and supporting Asian Electron now for 9 years. They are primarily know for their large range of Inverters and Battery Chargers.
Recently they have taken the strategic decision to enter into the switched mode power supply arena and build a second source of Meanwell supplies and others, with some technology improvements and lower prices. (We did a review on this last year)
Their new range for 2010 is a complete range of higher power DC supplies of 600, 800, 1200 and 1500 watts, closed box supplies with excellent efficiencies. Output voltages are presets with 5, 9, 12, 15, 24, 48 and 60 VDC models.
For instance the 600 Watt 5 VDC model can source 100 Amps with an qty 51-100 OEM price of around $300NZD.
Have a look at the preliminary PDF for the 600 Watt Models
For higher wattage the specs remain the same, just staged up.
OEM supply prices are excellent.

PowerTech - Solar Panels - Monocrystaline high efficiency.
MasTec has been testing these panels now for two years against polycrystaline cells and in bright sun the monos are more efficient.
A full range of Solar panels at excellent prices
Range 5, 10, 20, 65, 80, 120 watts for 12 volt systems or series connection
also
175 watts 24VDC with open voltage 42VDC
You can now get 120 watt panels 12 VDC for less than $800NZD, that use to be the cost of 65 watt panels two years ago.
If you are building series solar systems please be very careful, cover the cells with black plastic beofre installing as you could get a severe shock or burnt as the open voltages are very high in bright sun. Typically a 48 volt system will give a 80+ VDC shock and if it is wet on the roof it will be high current.
The key thing is this. If you need small to medium remote power then Solar is second best, behind Hydro ( if you have a 30-50 meter fall and a steady supply of water which is very rare). It is much better than a diesel and a wind turbine. It is quiet, reliable, long life and the price will keep coming down.
Return on Investment, if you use the cost of power from the grid as the standard, is still very poor but is getting better.
EPSolar - Chargers with remote meter
Solar will continue to become more important as costs of Cells go down as you can see in the above section on PowerTech panels.
We would like to highlite EPSolar as a new breed of Alternative Power company.
Are you having difficulty finding Solar chargers with 24VDC or higher voltages and currents up to 200As.
Most of these solar chargers have three stage with Full charge, PWM and Equalize stages. They have all the features you require and more.
If you are building remote solar power, mobile power or a solar power station or what ever solar pleasemcheck this link
