Modbus TCP to Serial RTU/ASCII Gateway

STM-501C MODBUS TCP to Serial RTU/ASCII Gateway.

The STM-501C allows legacy MODBUS RTU/ASCII devices to operate on a MODBUS TCP network. It allows either MODBUS serial master or slave to communicate with MODBUS TCP’s slave or master.

Modbus TCP masters to Modbus RTU/ASCII slaves: The STM-501C allows multiple MODBUS TCP masters to communicate with a MODBUS serial network. Since MODBUS serial network can only handle one query at one time, queries from different masters are pipelined and processed one by one.

Modbus RTU/ASCII master to Modbus TCP slaves: When STM-501C functions as MODBUS RTU/ASCII master to MODBUS TCP slave gateway, STM-501C can connect up to 8 MODBUS TCP slave. User can specify a UID range for each MODBUS TCP slave.

The STM-501C comes with user friendly management software to configure the unit. Utilizing the software, users can also search for all serial devices within a local area network independent of its subnet. It can also find a serial device server of a specific IP address over a wide area network. Moreover, the STM-501C can also be configured by its console port, through telnet connection, or via web interface for users to configure using their web browser.

NEW Single-Chip Design PCI Express Serial Cards

Aaxeon is announcing the release of a series of new PCI Express Serial Cards, RS-232, 422 and 485.

These new PCI Express Serial Cards now feature a new Single-Chip design that increases performance. Current PCI Express Serial Cards in the market use a 2 chip solution which essentially uses an added bridge chip to change a typical PCI card into a PCI Express card. This bridge chip design was a quick solution to provide for the PCI Express demand but was not very efficient. With the new Single-Chip design, everything is integrated into one chip allowing increased throughput and reduced CPU load. Users can now take full advantage of the PCI Express bus architecture.

Along with the increased performance, the new PCI Express Serial Cards still retain all the benefits of its predecessors. It still provides serial bus speeds of 250 Mb/sec. to 4 Gb/sec, fully Plug-and-Play compatible, serial power over Pin-9, and no IRQ and I/O address conflict problems.

Fiber Ring Serial Converters

The STF-277A and STF-277C Serial to Fiber Converters help extend Serial RS-232 or RS-232/422/485 transmission up to 2Km over Multi-Mode Fiber or 20Km over Single-Mode Fiber. These Serial to Fiber Converters are great for connecting RTU’s to HOST or SCADA controllers.

While the STF-277A is a great cost effective solution for extending RS-232 transmission, the STF-277C can extend RS-232/422/485 transmission as well as provide users with its Fiber Ring technology. Utilizing the Fiber Ring allows you to connect all the devise with one pair of fiber. Using this type of network structure can simplify the installation and reduce cost.

STF-277C Loop Loop Application

The STF-277C Serial to Fiber Converter with the Fiber Ring can connect equipment with the same or different interface to the same fiber ring.

When the Master unit sends data, the Slave units will retransmit the information around the loop. In addition, the information is sent out the serial port of the Slave to the Serial Device. If the Serial Device responds, the Slave will then also transmit the information to the fiber loop. The response will then also be retransmitted by all the Slaves on the loop.

When the information returns to the Master unit, the transmission on the loop stops as the Master does not retransmit any information that it receives.

*Note: When loop is utilized, only the one unit can be the Master Converter,
all the others are Slaves and become Slave Converters.
