The EM-9683 incorporates Intel's next-generation desktop micro-architecture. With two processing units operating in parallel, performance is similar to that of a dual-processor without increased power consumption. The architectural enhancements of this model make it ideal for multimedia applications.

The EM-9683 supports a range of multimedia features including dual independent displays with a VGA output, improved audio with a 5 Watt amplifier onboard, and networking connectivity with three LAN ports. In addition, four USB ports, two COM ports, a PCI-E (x16), and a PCI Expansion slot round out the range of add-on options for flexibility to fit the target application.
