Did you know the TrippLite APS series large models are green power - load sensitiveIn the pict top right hand corner is a small yellow spot, that is a pot to adjust the level of current to turn the inverter off when on battery backup.
If you don't want to read all the spec info drop down to the red characters below for the info.
Tripp Lite's APS2012 DC-to-AC inverter with automatic line-to-battery transfer and integrated charging system serves as an extended run UPS, a standalone power source or an automotive inverter. Supplies up to 2000 watts of continuous 230V AC power from any 12V battery or automotive DC source. OverPower TM inverter output feature temporarily provides up to 150% of the continuous output for 1-60 minutes, and DoubleBoost TM inverter output feature delivers up to 200% of the continuous output for up to 10 seconds, providing the extra power needed to cold start heavy-duty tools and motorized equipment. When hardwire AC input is energized, commercial power passes through to connected equipment and the battery set is recharged via 3 stage, 25/100 amp charging system.
In UPS mode, the APS system responds to blackouts and voltage fluctuations with a near instantaneous automatic transfer to battery-derived AC output. Includes a set of high current DC input terminals for simple installation (user supplies batteries and cabling - see owner's manual for recommendations).
Passes sine wave utility or generator power during battery charging and UPS line power operation, plus efficient PWM sine wave AC output in inverter and UPS backup modes.
Reliable large transformer design, with frequency control powers resistive electronic loads or large inductive motors, compressors and other items with high current needs on startup.
Optional APSRM4 wired remote power switch with full status LEDs provides remote power inverter on/off switching and continuous status information (APSRM4 sold separate).
Supports an unlimited amount of runtime with any number of user-supplied batteries connected. Highly adaptable to a variety of applications and site conditions with adjustable charger settings for wet/gel battery types and selectable line to battery power transfer voltages.

Resettable 25A charger AC input breaker and resettable 20A AC output breaker and automatic 2 speed cooling fan protect the inverter from load and temperature related failures
Grounding lug properly connects the inverter/charger system to earth ground or vehicle grounding system
Automatic overload and thermal shutoff safely turns off inverter as excessive loads or overheating conditions develop
Front panel remote control connector enables remote off/on switching (requires APSRM4 switch accessory). Optional APSRM4 accessory also includes user configurable jacks to support inverter shutoff or startup as a vehicle ignition is engaged
Load sensing control dial enables adjustable load threshold required to automatically turn the inverter on and off in DC mode as load conditions changeThe last thing in the spec, sorry I made you read all that stuff above, but it is amazing.
Now these Inverters are not pure sinewave in battery backup but I can tell you the run refrig systems and skil saws fine and all my other tools, sanders, drill press etc.
Here is the manual setup
Set Battery Charge Conserver (Load Sense) ControlOPTIONAL (All models except 612 models)
In order to save battery power, the unit's inverter automatically shuts off in the absence of any power demand from
connected equipment or appliances (the electrical load). When the Inverter/Charger detects a load, it automatically
turns its inverter function on. Users may choose the minimum load the Inverter/Charger will detect by adjusting
the Battery Charge Conserver Control (see diagram). Using a small tool, turn the control clockwise to lower the
minimum load that will be detected, causing the inverter to turn on for smaller loads. When the control is turned
fully clockwise, the inverter will operate even when there is no load. Turn the control counterclockwise to increase the minimum load that will be detected, causing the inverter to stay off until the new minimum load is reached.
NOTE: The factory setting for the control is fully clockwise. However, based on the threshold load to which youd like the inverter to respond, you should adjust the control counterclockwise to reduce its sensitivity until the inverter is active only when connected equipment or appliances are actually in use.If you are making power from Solar or Wind this is a huge energy saver as most inverters idle at 1 amp which is 24 watts on a 24 VDC system and that is 576 watthrs/day.
Let's say you have a 200 watt solar system and it runs for 6 hours a day at 150 watts you generate 3600 watthrs/day and you would loose 1/6th of this just with the inverter idling doing nothing.

A Very Useful UPSA customer just asked for a UPS with standard battery backed up UPS outlets and also a set of higher current rated, surge protected outlets.
I did a mental search through all our smaller UPSs for this specification and the only company that came up was TrippLite.
We introduced the AVRX750 VA UPS back 2 years ago and at the time high lighted it as a Fat Power Bar UPS. Since then we have solf dozens of these units but just as UPSs.
This customer wanted to power a large load but not back it up with a UPS. All that was required was surge protection and a power filter built in to save the heavy load from spikes, surges and RF noise.
The AVRX750 has 3 outlets dedicated for backup if there is a power outage and an additional three outlets that are 10 amps - just surge protected, with filters and spike arrestors.
So it fitted perfectly with the requirement.
Some other obvious examples are a small office with one PC and a Laser printer. You can never back up a laser with a UPS as they have a very large fuser heater roller in them and would require a very large UPS and big battery to keep running if the power went out. However they do need surge, spike and noise protection. The TrippLite AVRX750 does it all perfectly backup the PC and save the printer and more.
Also plug you ADSL line in or FAX or Modem for protection also.
The price is excellent also, ask Dhara Pandya for a quote. -- Two year Warranty also.

Power Distribution Units - Horizontal and Vertical- PDU Metered Power Distribution Units
MasTec has been selling reboot and load shedding and power up systems for quite some time now. If you are an IT manager and read this info below, we feel you will be impressed with the TrippLite product and may find a use for your site.
Some UPSs have these features in them, but they are very expensive and also only apply to that UPS. These units can be used in a variety of situations, with UPS or not.
Tripp Lite Switched, Metered Rack Power Distribution Units enable a variety of advanced network control and monitoring functions by giving IT Managers the ability to turn on, turn off, recycle or lock-out power to each individual receptacle and remotely monitor PDU power consumption and in-rack environmental conditions.
Switched PDU systems can be accessed, configured and controlled through secure web, SNMP or Telnet Interface. Individually switched outlets can be controlled via a built-in web/network interface, enabling remote reboot of unresponsive network hardware.
User defined power-up and power-down outlet sequences ensure proper operation of interdependent IT systems and prevent inrush-related overloads as devices are powered on.
Programmable load-shedding of less critical devices at user-defined intervals extends UPS uptime in response to power failures. Unused PDU outlets can be electronically locked-off to prevent powering of unauthorized hardware.
PDU power consumption (current) is displayed locally and can be monitored via the web/network interface, with user-defined alarms to warn of potential overloads before critical IT mains or branch breakers trip.
Optional ENVIROSENSE temperature/humidity probe enables remote monitoring of in-rack environmental conditions and alarms for up to 3 user supplied contact-closure sensors.
Supports real-time monitoring, notification and logging of all on-board reporting functions with user-specified alarm thresholds and actions for each reported condition.
Switched PDU systems can be accessed, configured and controlled through secure web, SNMP or Telnet Interface.
PDUMH15HVNET Switched, Metered, 1U rack PDU supports 15A maximum capacity at 208/230/240V (agency de-rated to 12 amps). Includes detachable C13 input cordset and 8 C13 switched outlets arranged in one unbreakered 8 outlet bank. Visual and remote current monitoring tracks the output current.
